We routinely do the Castor Peak ski tour as part of our Golden Backcountry Camps
From the Asulkan Parking lot, its approximately 1600m and 20km round trip to the summit of Castor Peak. There’s a bit of exposed bootpacking, scrambling to get to the summit from Saphire Col.
This tour travels through complex avalanche and glaciated terrain. Be sure you bring glacier travel gear and the skills to manage the terrain. Depending on the snow conditions on the ridge an ice axe and crampons can be helpful.
